About

Welcome! My name is Stephen and I’m the creator of the works you see here on my website. I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy creating them.

My Journey

Since I was young I have always been fascinated with cameras. When I saw one, I had to get my hands on it. As I grew and became more responsible, I received as a gift for christmas, my very own, very first digital camera. The camera was only 3 megapixels and It was small enough to fit in my pocket. I took it everywhere and took photos of everything, I loved taking photos with it.

A few years later and as technology continued to advance, cameras got better and so did I. I wanted something a little more advanced. So, for christmas that year, I received a Samsung digital point and shoot. I have to say that it was a pretty great camera and certainly got the job done pretty well. This was the first time I had discovered the Macro setting on a camera, I was pretty excited about this and noticed that my photos where looking much better.

This is where my passion blossomed.

I was taking really great photos and I really enjoyed it, and I was proud of what I could do because not everyone could. The camera had a manual mode which I played around with and eventually taught myself how to shoot in basic manual mode. Soon after I got to take a basic photography course at camp that summer where I was introduced to my first Digital SLR. I found out how much I enjoyed being able to choose all the settings myself for the specific subject and I loved the mechanical sound of the shutter inside the camera when I took a photograph.

Long after and many photos later, I finally convinced my parents and family that I was ready for my very own, very first DSLR. Noticing that my photos weren’t half bad, they agreed. For christmas that year, under the tree was a shiny new Canon EOS Rebel XS waiting to absorb the light around me and create a beautiful photograph that would last a lifetime.

I took a photography class in high school during the summer and learned how to really get the most out of my camera with the help of my teacher Mr. Galang. We explored studio photography along with many other types and learned how to effectively use Photoshop to touch up our work. I finished with one of the highest grade in the class and a nice portfolio of the work we did. After that we were sent off on our own to embrace the knowledge we were given and to enjoy the world of photography and all it had to offer.

I have to give a shout-out to Sam at AnonyMous Photographics for convincing my parents to buy me my first DSLR letting me use her equipment to experiment and for giving me her Photoshop licence to use. She took me on a few photo shoots to get a feel for what it was like.

I would have never been able to have come so far in my hobby and hopefully one day, career without Fred, Sam and my family’s help and support!

Thanks for stopping by,

Stephen
